Ability WA runs two social enterprises that provide workforce opportunities and benefits for their beneficiaries. For over 50 years, Goodwill Engineering (GWE) has manufactured quality hardware components for Perth’s residential and commercial construction industry. As an Australian Disability Enterprise, GWE provides on-site support and training to employees with disabilities, supporting them to develop work skills and to maintain employment. Our Goodwill Engineering site provides supported employment opportunities for people with disabilities to develop their employment readiness skills and strive towards reaching their employment goals. AbilityTECH is a team of creative minds that combine innovation, knowledge and skill to improve the lives of people with disability. Working closely with people living with disabilities and other experts, AbilityTECH uses innovative thinking and technical expertise to create custom assistive solutions that support independence and comfort. AbilityTECH’s team also modify off-the-shelf products to meet individual needs as well as provide consultative support to therapists seeking advice.

Befriend

Befriend is Sparking connected, thriving communities. We undertake community building and consulting services to nurture the development of inclusive, connected communities. We work collaboratively with local government, organisations and residents, supporting everyone we meet to think about their roles in the community a little differently and find meaningful ways to contribute to our shared purpose. Buddiup

Supporting young men with disability to live a healthier life, through health, relationships, community and learning. They offer health and wellness programs and support for adolescent males and young men with disability. Buddiup now provides programs and services to over 100 athletes and participants in Perth and Geelong, helping young men on their journey to creating a healthier life.

Chris’ Kitchen

We manufacture vegan cakes and employ solely people who face barriers to employment, primarily survivors of domestic violence. We donate 3% of profits to fight hunger and we finance women-led small business ideas in emerging economies.

Culture Connect WA

Culture Connect WA is a social enterprise celebrating diversity through food. We empower refugees, international students, Indigenous youth, and people with disabilities through inclusive culinary programs, catering services, and community events. Our programs are powered by our catering business, and we exist to support refugees and international students into culinary training and careers.

Jacks Shed (Midwest Community Living Association)

Operating as a social enterprise, Jack’s Shed will give our customers the opportunity to volunteer their time to a meaningful and rewarding cause. Volunteers, with the support of their support worker superstars, will work collaboratively to collect newspapers from various local businesses, then sort and bundle the newspapers at Jack’s Shed ready for wrapping and strapping and transport to Perth where they will be re-purposed as organic soil stabilizer.

Neufocus

We use the Arrowsmith Program to harness the power of neuroplasticity and change the individual s capacity to notice, process, understand and remember what they are learning. Our goal is to address the weak underlying cognitive functions that are the root cause of neurodiversity and enable people to thrive where before they struggled and failed.

Queer and Diverse Pathways

QDP is a Peer-Led support organisation dedicated to providing inclusive support on your journey. We started with a simple mission: to create a place where the queer, TGD, and neurodivergent communities can access NDIS support that feels affirming, safe, and culturally competent. Redrawn

We are Redrawn, a drafting and design consultancy company who want to increase diversity and inclusion in the engineering sector. We specifically hire and train people from minority groups which are under-represented in the industry. We provide a safe space for learning and up-skilling people from all walks of life, teaching them drafting, project management and engineering skills working on real project work in the energy and industrial sector.

We offer Sol Sessions which are a social activities, Skill Ability Programs & Concept Creation Workshops (Small Business Building Academy) that use a mix of social, collective and experiential learning to create up-skill learning outcomes and skill building empowerment solutions for said individuals, organisations or communities.

Westcare

We actively employ people living with a disability across our 4 commercial services. We provide training, development and accommodation services to those people. From our 4 commercial services (Printing, commercial marketing and banners, Box making, Food packing & other packing). How do you create impact? We provide a safe entry to the workplace for people living with a disability, with an emphasis on inclusion and equality across our whole workforce. Providing meaningful employment empowers our supported employees with opportunities that they are unlikely to have in open employment. Work for many of our team not only gives someone a sense or worth it provides social connections that many do not have outside of the work environment. What does success look like to you? Success for us is to make sure an individual performs to the best they can to achieve their goals. This could be as simple as learning a new technique, operate a piece of machinery or to work towards gaining open employment with other organisations.
