Description

A Rapid Design Toolkit for Context-Aware External Human-Machine Interfaces. This project will develop a toolkit to help designers co-design and evaluate context-aware external human-machine interface (eHMI) prototypes, enabling autonomous vehicles to communicate safely with pedestrians in diverse urban environments. The toolkit will combine a taxonomy of pedestrian behaviours and environmental contexts, a co-design interface for rapidly prototyping eHMIs, and an immersive simulator for testing designs in realistic scenarios. This research will provide a structured process for developing adaptable eHMIs, supporting safer, more inclusive public spaces and ensuring autonomous vehicles deployed in Australia meet the needs of all pedestrians.. Scheme: Discovery Early Career Researcher Award. Field: 3303 - Design. Lead: Dr Callum Parker
