Description

Hiding in nooks and crannies: critical metals in mineral-water systems. This project aims to support Australia's future as a bespoke, sustainable provider of “critical minerals” for the transition to a carbon-neutral economy by deciphering the complex physico-chemical affecting the deportment of these elements in the Earth's crust and in processing plants. This project will generate fundamental physico-chemical data and innovative thermochemical models using interdisciplinary approaches across geochemistry, chemical thermodynamics, and computational chemistry. Expected outcomes include improved prediction of the deportment of critical metals in natural and engineered systems, enabling the specific targeting and extraction of critical metals. This should provide significant benefits to the Australian economy.. Scheme: Discovery Projects. Field: 3406 - Physical Chemistry. Lead: Prof Joel Brugger
