Description
Evaluating justice reinvestment: Understanding First Nations' justice. This project aims to conceptualise, analyse, and expand upon First Nations’ justice models derived from Indigenous perspectives. Partnering with Justice Reinvestment Network Australia, this project uses an Indigenist, community-led, and praxis-orientated research design. As First Nations incarceration rates continue to rise, the project provides an innovative and timely evaluation of justice reinvestment (JR) in Australia. JR's national scope provides an unprecedented opportunity to conceptualise self-determined justice models, analyse their implementation strengths and barriers, and develop mechanisms for sustainability. This yields significant benefits to the Indigenous justice global knowledgebase and will impact on justice policy.. Scheme: Discovery Indigenous. Field: 4505 - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, Society and Community. Lead: Dr Krystal Lockwood
