Description

A transmission electron microscopy corrector and a cryogenic biasing holder. The project aims to enhance Australia’s capabilities in microstructural characterisation by integrating an electron microscopy corrector and an in-situ cryo-biasing sample holder. This initiative represents a first in Australia, enabling atomic-scale imaging under in-situ cryogenic biasing conditions and achieving sub-picometre precision with a depth resolution of 1 nm. The expected outcomes include aberration-free imaging of material microstructures and real-time observation of structural evolution dynamics under cryo-biasing conditions. This will provide critical insights into the structure–property relationships of materials and reinforce Australia’s position as a global leader in materials research and advanced manufacturing.. Scheme: Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities. Field: 4016 - Materials Engineering. Lead: Prof Xiaozhou Liao
