Description

Interplay or Isolation: Germinal Centre Reactions to Multiple Antigens. Most of our fundamental knowledge of the immune system comes from studying responses to individual proteins. This project will investigate how the immune system handles the challenge of making multiple responses simultaneously with a focus on the generation of antibodies. It is now possible to address these questions due to the development of technologies including bespoke animal models and spatial transcriptomics by the applicants. The outcomes will include understanding if simultaneous responses compete, and why the immune system may make stronger responses to some antigens rather than others. This will advance fundamental knowledge that may subsequently underpin vaccine design.. Scheme: Discovery Projects. Field: 3204 - Immunology. Lead: Prof Ian Cockburn
