Description

Deciphering adolescents’ use and evaluation of digital health information. There are growing concerns among parents, educators, professionals, and governments that the use of inappropriate digital health information can harm adolescents. Federal and State governments have responded to this problem by proceeding with legislation to ban social media use until 16 years of age. This approach fails to prevent misuse of digital health information through education, shifting the problem to a later age. As there is no educational framework in Australia to guide action, and not enough evidence to support the creation of such a framework, this project aims to understand how adolescents’ access, use, and evaluate digital health information to develop Australia’s first scalable adolescent digital health education framework. .
