Description

Organising Present Generations to Advocate for Future Generations. This project aims to investigate the current and potential contribution of advocacy organisations in representing the interests of future generations. New knowledge is expected to be generated about when advocacy groups claim to represent future generations, when these claims are recognised by elites, and the conditions under which advocacy for future generations can shift political priorities. The project should provide significant benefits to scholars via new theories on the role of advocacy groups and representation. It is expected the project will provide an evidence base to encourage better engagement of policy makers with the interests of future generations, thus enhancing the quality of Australia’s representative democracy. .
