Giving Philosophy

Trust for Nature (Victoria), as the trustee, is committed to practical action, collaboration, and innovation to permanently protect, conserve, and regenerate private land in Victoria. Their approach involves working with landholders to place conservation covenants on properties, managing their own conservation reserves, and operating a revolving fund to acquire and resell ecologically significant land with covenants. They emphasize partnership with landholders, Traditional Owners, community groups, volunteers, and government to achieve biodiversity targets, mitigate climate change, and protect threatened species. The Pimelea Conservation Trust Fund specifically supports landowners and property managers who have Spiny Rice-flower on their land, funding recovery activities through management, research, and direct support.

Tips for Applicants

For the Landholder Support Program, applicants should be woolgrowers with native grassland covenants in the Northern Plains of Victoria. Notable Grants

• The Pimelea Conservation Trust Fund has supported the management of Altona Nature Conservation Reserve and Pimelea Nature Conservation Reserve.
• The Pimelea Conservation Trust Fund has supported regional and Melbourne metropolitan environmental groups, the Country Fire Authority, consultants, and Melbourne's Royal Botanical Gardens for Spiny Rice-flower related activities, including genetic diversity research.
• Trust for Nature (Victoria) undertakes on-ground works for conservation, such as 4,029ha of weed management and 35,000ha of feral animal management in 2021-22, in partnership with landholders.
